Shot types and camera angles

These two very useful images explain two of your basic choices when conceiving a film: the type of shot and the angle of the camera.

The type of shot can be a resource to give more importante to either background or subject's emotion.

The angle of the camera can transmit sensations of power, misery, sadness, control...

Be original when using these resources!!

Typography exercise

Create two typographies that transmit two different feelings or sensations of your choice. Use them to write two alphabets that transmit those feelings clearly. You can choose between capitals or small letters, and if you wish, you can add a line with numbers.

This is a very complete online course to learn about typography.

See more examples here and here.

You can also watch the examples we saw in class in this link.

These are the detailed instructions.

And here are the templates for your final copy. You can print the one you need for your alphabets and bring it to class when you start your final copy Remember you will get an extra point in the exercise if you make the template yourself with your ruler and set squares.

2 ESO: Lines in portraits

In our second project we'll be looking at one of the characteristics of color:
VALUE
Do you remember what value is?
How can we analise our portrait photos in terms of value?
Check this link to see how you can create different values with lines.

Once you understand this concept, you'll be using tracing paper, pencil and a technical drawing pen to create a self portrait. In addition to value, we'll continue using the power of lines as a expressive element. You can experiment with line types, lengths and thicknesses to express yourself!!

See some examples from previous years in this Pinterest dashboard.

And the exercise's instructions and qualification criteria here.

In this presentation you can understand the facial proportions better:

And following this link, you can find out 4 different facial proportions!!

Waiting exercise 1: Making a landscape with value

Our next waiting is about using color value to create depth.

First you need to draw your landscape (invent it) on a white paper.

You will use your watercolors, and the layering technique.

You must choose a color and add layers to the elements that are closer. The closest elements can even admit a thin layer of black or brown to make it even darker.

You will create two versions of the same landscape, one with cold and one with warm colors.

And these are the evaluation criteria:

RULES OF THE CLASSROOM

If you wish to learn a lot from this subject and to achieve a good mark, these are the rules that you must always abide by:

Rule zero (start point): English spoken at all times. Not only when talking to                                    the teacher, but also between classmates.

All communication must happen in English!!

1- Have your materials ready in class every day. If you miss something, write it in your agenda and bring it next day.

2- When the teacher arrives in class, you must be ready to start and sitting down.

3- Follow all the school and class rules strictly. Protect yourself and others from Covid-19.

4- Listen attentively to the teacher's instructions and explanations.

5- Behave yourself in a respectful and thoughtful manner.

6- Always speak quietly. If you need help from the teacher, rise your hand.

7- Make an effort. Art comes with work, it's not an accident or something silly. The teacher will evaluate your level of commitment.

8- Listen to your classmates with attention and respect.

9- Your projects must always be very well presented. Otherwise, the teacher can tell you to repeat them.

10- Respect your classmates and their artistic way to express themselves. Nothing is "ugly" or "bad", it's just different from ours.

MOST IMPORTANT: Be creative!! Be yourself!!!
